What is an Impact Advocate?
An Impact Advocate is a compassionate, dedicated volunteer who serves as a lifeline to those experiencing sudden loss. As an advocate, your role will be to connect the bereaved with vital local resources, helping them navigate the difficult steps of handling a loved one’s affairs and accessing essential services. You will also provide emotional support, offering a listening ear and guidance during one of the most challenging times in a person’s life.
How will you Help?
Connect Families to Resources: Help individuals find and access local resources such as grief counseling, legal services, funeral assistance, and more. You will be the bridge between them and the services they need to manage the immediate aftermath of a loss.

Provide Emotional Support: Offer compassionate and empathetic support through phone calls, messages, or in-person check-ins. Many individuals face grief without a strong support system, and your role will be to ensure they don’t feel alone on their journey.

Guide Through the Steps: Assist the bereaved in navigating the steps that follow the loss of a loved one. From funeral planning to understanding legal processes and managing household affairs, you’ll offer clear guidance to help alleviate some of their burdens.

Training and Support:
We understand that this role requires sensitivity and specialized knowledge, which is why we provide comprehensive training for all our Impact Advocates. You’ll learn about grief support, how to navigate local resource systems, and effective communication techniques to help those dealing with loss. Additionally, you’ll have access to ongoing support from our staff and other volunteers.
