The purpose of the LIF Phone Support is to help guide the bereaved, the family and the friends through the steps in our Guide.

The way someone handles grief and mourning varies greatly on each individual; some bereaved people like to stay busy to distract themselves from what has just happened, while others find it difficult to get out of bed or preform basic tasks.

We have found that not everyone has a vast support group of friends and family to help them with the responsibilities that follow a death, which is the exact reason why this set of volunteers is so vital to our mission. The bereaved, or family or friends, can call us with any questions about what to do after a loved one passes and where they need to begin. Although we have created a comprehensive guide with a glossary of terms, each situation is unique and some people need further understanding.

Our phone support volunteers will be able to walk them the Guide in depth, and be able to point them in the right direction of how to move forward. If the bereaved feels that they need more aid than a phone support volunteer is able to offer, they can be assigned a Case Advocate who is able to act on their behalf in getting some or most of the responsibilities done. If there are legal questions or more state specific questions that the phone support volunteer is unable to answer, they will be able to direct them to the appropriate employee of Life Interrupted Foundation to further assist.

The LIF Phone Support volunteer is able to pick what day(s) and amount of hours they are able to be on call. It is a fully remote volunteer opportunity. There will be in depth training upon the application and approval of the volunteer request.
