Life Interrupted Bereavement Support

Helping someone going through a loss of loved one
Life Interrupted Foundation

The LIF Bereavement Support volunteer has been added to be an on-call emotional support person to any of our bereaved in need. We have found that it is very difficult for the bereaved to reach out for help or even just to talk to a friend or family member, as they do not want to burden others with their pain and sadness.

We believe it is crucial to have a team of volunteers to answer phone calls or text messages at any time, so they always know they are not alone. We are their friend and a hand to hold when they do not feel like they can reach out to anyone else.In order to become a part of the Bereavement Support Team, you will undergo training in grief coaching and additional resources provided by our Program Director, Volunteer Coordinator and our Partnered Grief Counselors.

Because this position does deal with very sensitive information, and the emotional wellbeing of our clients are first and foremost, we do require a background check to be completed before approval of the application. When a person suffers a major loss, thoughts of hurting themselves so they no longer have to endure the pain is very common. It is important that you listen to key words explained in our training for this volunteer to position, in the case that the bereaved may want to harm themselves.

We have partnered with the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, so that if you hear any alarming words or phrases, you can immediately call this lifeline with the bereaved on the phone. The LIF Bereavement Support position is a remote opportunity, and offers as many hours or days as you would like to give to our foundation.
